I remember growing up we would have these major thunder storms. The thunder and lightning would crackle so loudly. And it would rain so hard. Sometimes the wind would sound like it was whistling almost howling. We could hear things being knocked up against our house and tree limbs snapping under the pressure. We would also lose power for days after the storm had passed.
My mother would tell us to go sit down and be quite because God was working. We would have to turn off the T.V. and anything else that was on. The whole house would essentially be shut down because of the storm going on outside. These storms sometimes would last for hours or what felt like hours. I remember always asking why does God need for me to sit and be quite in order for him to work? It never made sense to me because I would also hear how strong God was. How powerful God was. How great God was. When I would ask my mom, she would say that I was being sassy and threaten to spank me.
I now understand that she did not have an answer for my question. Because God did not need me to sit down and be still in order for him to work. I also understand that all storms are not of God. Some storms are actually demonic. Some storms are sent to cause chaos and confusion. Some storms are sent to disguise witchcraft attacks. Some storms are sent to cause disruptions. Some storms are sent to stop breakthrough and deliverance in a region.
The storm that arose was sent to stop Jesus from reaching the other side. There was a territorial spirit in the region that did not want to lose it’s territory. As soon as Jesus got to the other side and stepped out of the ship he was met by a man that was possessed. The man had been dwelling among the tombs and no man could secure him. No man could stop him. Through the man they had complete control over the entire region.
Jesus rebuked the wind and the sea. Question, if the storm was from God why would Jesus rebuke the wind and the sea? Let’s be clear here. The storm was not from God. The storm was sent to stop Jesus from reaching the other side. Jesus had an assignment on the other side. On the other side was a man and region in need of deliverance.
Jesus got to the other side and the man was set free from a legion of demons that had been tormenting him and controlling the region. Jesus assignment was that of deliverance for the man and the region. Even though the region rejected the deliverance the man was set free and went on to preach deliverance to others. I know understand that as a believer I can rebuke demonic storms. And if you are a believer I want you to know that you can to. I want you to know that we also have an assignment and that assignment is to dismantle storms sent to destroy.
We have to begin to discern the weather and the storms that arise. We have to begin to come against demonic storms. We have got to begin to rebuke the wind and the rain. We have to begin to speak against the prophecies of the meteorologist that speak of disaster and death. We have got to begin to pray against these things. Every storm is not from God. Mother nature is not at work. We have got to begin to pray against natural disasters. There is nothing natural about them. We have got to pray against tornadoes and earthquakes.
We must be begin to pray, decree and rebuke. We must stand in the gap and pray.
Lift up our voices and declare “PEACE, BE STILL”
Til next time friends, Shalom! Shalom!
